Hi, I’m Sabrina! I’m a UX writer and content designer by day and a DJ, astrologer, and tarot reader by night.

I’m from Hayward, California otherwise known as the “Heart of the Bay Area.” I’ve been online nearly my whole life, as a product of my tech-savvy generation and a computer science teacher father. As a child, I’d wait for the shrill chirp of dial-up from our enormous Windows 95 desktop, to code my own webpages with my dad’s dog-eared HTML textbooks. I feel fortunate to grow up with this rapidly evolving digital landscape, witnessing the shift of Geocities and Angelfire websites to the streamlined, ADA-compliant sites we see today.

It only made sense to alchemize my double Creative Writing and Communications majors from UC Davis to digital marketing, brand identity, and eventually, user-centered content design.

Now based in Brooklyn, I’m a content designer with over a decade of professional experience. I’m a conversation starter, shaker, and shaper: I boil complexity down to clear language that’s distilled in a brand’s narrative and tone. I turn opaque concepts transparent, with simple and snack-able copy for a harmonious experience.

Additionally, I’m a junior UX Designer through General Assembly's UX Design course in fall 2018 and a conversation designer from the Conversational Academy’s certification program in winter 2020.

As of 2021, 6.5 billion people are online. Clear language is necessary for making information and tasks comprehensible. Words on the screen not only guide, but shape a digital experience.

I’m a huge fan of design thinking, as it’s very applicable to every day life. For example, I see UX writing as analogous to a great DJ set. You’re setting a specific vibe, while mixing tracks and BPMs based on your audience. All transitions need to be seamless and engaging. And I feel like I’m constantly iterating new processes and ideas in my personal life.

As a person of color, I’m especially drawn to design because it’s always backed by research. Therefore, it should be inherently inclusive and always accessible—we’re designing for the users and only for the users. My lived experiences as a queer neurodivergent Chinese-American woman shapes my deeply empathetic worldview, and I champion for a liberated and equitable world beyond our current systems.

Feel free to contact me to geek out about content design and all things UX content! I also don’t object to astrology and tarot chat, cat memes, or your favorite kpop dance tutorial.
